When I was 18, I was on the road with my dad. One day, we were sitting in the tour bus, talking about songs, and he mentioned a song, and I said, “I don’t know that one.” He mentioned another one, and I said, “I don’t know that one, either.” Then he started to get alarmed, so he spent the rest of the day making a list on a legal pad, and at the top he put “100 Essential Country Songs.” And he handed it to me and he said, “This is your education.” For more, click here.

The JamStampede are the official result of an unofficial jam band, first intended to be an all-star line-up of seasoned pros from NY and PA. The line-up consists of two PA locals, FREEMAN WHITE (Keyboards, Vocals) from the band "Live Dead" and MIKE MIZ (Guitar, Vocals) from, MIZ and three members of the mighty NY based national touring band The Zen Tricksters, KLYPH BLACK (Bass, Vocals), DAVE DIAMOND (Drums, Vocals) and TOM CIRCOSTA (Guitar, Vocals). The core rhythym section remains together while the ZT's take an undetermined amount of time off from their touring.

When one thinks of Blues music in Canada, the first band that springs to mind is Downchild. It’s been 40 years since Donnie “Mr. Downchild” Walsh and his since passed brother, Hock Walsh formed the group that would be the inspiration behind the world famous Blues Brothers. Still on top of their game today, Downchild was nominated for “Blues Album of The Year” at the 2005 Juno Awards (Canadian equivalent of a Grammy Award) and lauded as “Entertainers of the Year” in 2007 at the Maple Blues Awards (Canadian equivalent of a W.C. Handy Award).

A constant throughout, Donnie Walsh has kept the music alive and Downchild embodies some of the most well respected musicians in the country, who have performed together for over 15 years. This includes silky smooth singer and harmonica player Chuck Jackson, tenor sax player Pat Carey, beat man Mike Fitzpatrick on drums, rhythm captain Gary Kendall on bass, and former American supergroup rocker Michael Fonfara (of Rhinoceros fame) on keyboards.

www.mikebiggar.com

The name says it all, really: Mike Biggar is larger than life. In personality, vocal dynamics and sheer physical presence he commands notice and makes an impression not easily forgotten.

Little wonder there’s a growing buzz around Mike. His self-titled 2009 EP gave notice that here was a new East Coast force to be reckoned with. An appearance on Rogers TV’s "Live in the Studio" demonstrated a soul-stirring voice teamed with superb self-written songs. "The Season", Mike’s 2010 Christmas CD, showed a multi-tasking Mike Biggar singing, playing drums and acoustic guitar and handling production chores. A collection of re-imagined holiday standards seamlessly blended with fresh originals, The Season garnered enthusiastic commercial airplay nationwide and sold surprisingly well.

Hailing from the talent-drenched soil of New Brunswick, Mike’s infectious roots rock melodies—spiced with hints of blues, R&B and gospel and scripted with lyrics about life, love, struggle and faith—have people talking and wanting more. Whether fronting a pounding rock band before a crowd of thousands or playing a corner pub gig armed with just his acoustic guitar, Mike Biggar delivers. That’s the mark of a stalwart professional and a true artist.
